Another fun read in this series. I had a little problem with seeing Dina being held down in this second book but I understood the reason she held out against her power in order to keep someone who was named as her "whipping boy" alive. I enjoyed seeing her older brother and younger sister being brought into the story and the roles that they played. I think this series looks to be shaping up as a great YA adventure series. I'm anxious to move on to the 3rd book.I enjoyed this book. Took me a little while to get into this book.. I hadn't read the first book. Once I got hooked the pages flew by! Can't wait to read the rest of these books.
Summary: Sequel to "The Shamer's Daughter," this book continues the story of Dina, the daughter of the Shamer and who has inherited her mother's power (as described in other reviews), but this time adds a second dimension. This is not just Dina's story this time, it is now also the story of her brother Davin, who takes over the narrative regularly throughout the book. The story focuses on Dina, who after a series of events is kidnapped and forced to use her Shamer powers for evil, while her

This is the second book in the Shamer Chronicles series. I read it as a child, but was amazed over how little I remembered. I love how much Lene Kaaberbøl not only told the story from Dinas point of viwe, but also from her brother Davids point of viwe. This gave me the information on how it was for David to be the son of Melussina, and brother of Dina. We also get to see how he handles it when his and his familiy's life gets turned up side down. I also like that we get to follow him in his
The Shamer's Signet; the exciting sequel to The Shamer's Daughter.I love the Shamer Chronicles - and yes, I'm 21 and yes, the books are targeted tweens age 10 - 13. But I love the series. The book takes off where The Shamer's Daughter left us, but Kaaberbøl introduces us to something new; the story is told both from Dina's point of view (like The Shamer's Daughter), but also from her big brother, Davin's, point of view. This gives the story a very interesting twist since Davin has his own
Heather, Central patron, June 2018, 5 stars:This is a very good fantasy series! I'm really enjoying it.
This book was told in chapters that alternated POVs between the two main leads, Dina and her brother Davin. I felt the story would have been more effective had the author either stuck with one POV or divided the story into two parts, and had the first part be about Dina, the second about Davin. It felt like she never really got into the head of either character, and some parts of the story were confusing and rushed. It lacked the characterisations and tension that made the first part work.
