Narration During Books God's Dice

Unable to escape his recurring visions of a fantasy realm called Midland, psychologist Richard Brandon has begun doing research into past life regression by experimenting on himself. What he doesn't realize is that his tests are opening gateways between alternate worlds in which he leads quite different lives--and one thing that all the different Richards have in common is their dreams of this magical place.

A tainted fantasy, conjuring up memories of your best dreams contaminated by ugly reality. Its a strange atmosphere, but it works. The story doesnt really get started until midway through. Once the four versions of the same man actually start the journey, things happen, parallels and connections become clear, and then it gets interesting. Have patience, get past the first half, and it all makes sense in the end. The ending is obvious given all the clues throughout the book, but I never saw it

This was the first fantasy novel I ever read from cover to cover, and a favorite at the time. A complicated, yet at the same time easy smooth and fun read.

This is an interesting fantasy with six main characters, five of whom are apparently the same one. It doesn't quite all tie together as well as it might, but it's a fun, thought-provoking story.
